4-DAY SAFARI ITINERARY: TARANGIRE AND NGORONGORO CRATER

Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

• Morning: Depart from Arusha early in the morning. Ensure you have a packed lunch for the day. The drive to Tarangire National Park takes approximately 2-3 hours, depending on traffic.
• Midday: Arrive at Tarangire National Park. Begin your game drive immediately upon entry. Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees, providing excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.
• Lunch: Enjoy your packed lunch during the game drive or at a designated picnic area within the park.
• Afternoon: Continue exploring Tarangire until late afternoon when you will exit the park and head towards Karatu. This journey will take about 1-2 hours.
• Evening: Check into your lodge or camp in Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater

• Early Morning: Have breakfast at your accommodation before departing for Ngorongoro Crater.
• Morning Drive: Drive to Ngorongoro Crater (approximately 1 hour). Upon arrival, descend into the crater, which is home to the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo). The crater floor offers diverse habitats including grasslands, swamps, and forests.
• Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater while observing wildlife.
• Afternoon: Continue your game drive until late afternoon. After exiting the crater, drive to Mto wa Mbu for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

• Morning: After breakfast at your accommodation in Mto wa Mbu, prepare for a day trip to Lake Manyara National Park (about a 30-minute drive).
• Game Drive: Spend the morning exploring Lake Manyara’s unique ecosystem. Look out for tree-climbing lions and various bird species that inhabit this area.
• Lunch: Have lunch either at a picnic site within the park or return to Mto wa Mbu if preferred.
• Afternoon Activities: Continue with an afternoon game drive in Lake Manyara before heading back to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Lake Manyara Viewpoint and Return to Arusha

• Morning Activity: After breakfast, embark on a bicycle ride up to Lake Manyara Viewpoint. This scenic ride offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding landscapes.
• Late Morning/Lunch: Return from the viewpoint and enjoy lunch either at your accommodation or a nearby restaurant in Mto wa Mbu.
• Afternoon Departure: After lunch, begin your journey back to Arusha (approximately 2 hours).
• Flight to Zanzibar: Depending on your flight schedule, you may catch an evening flight from Arusha to Zanzibar.
